Stage Manager Description

Apron-The downstage section of the stage that projects past the proscenium.
Cyc - A big (40' -50' wide) white or blue piece of cloth that is used for lighting effects.
Fly System-A system of pulleys, ropes, and weights, designed to move curtains, electrics, and anything else that is hanged above the stage.
Green Room- Where the actors prepare to go on stage.
House - Where the audience sits.
Legs- A set of curtains-one on each side of the stage-which remain stationary and are primarily used to hide any activity that may be going on in the wings.
Proscenium-The "picture frame" of the stage; it masks the mechanics of backstage operations and creates a clearly defined playing space.
Scrim - A mesh fabric like the cyc that can be opaque when front lit or transluscent when backlit.
Shop- Used for set construction and materials/set piece storage
Wings-Any space directly off Stage Left or Stage Right.
